First Draft
by zach whalen
This stage of the assignment is your first complete draft of the paper. That is, the document should be "complete" in the sense that it represents a coherent and structured argument in reasonably well-polished academic prose.
The final version of this paper should be around 20 pages, but this first draft need only aim for (at least) 12. Your revision and peer review process will likely require you to elaborate on or qualify your argument, so a typical writing process for this type of paper will be such that it expands with relative ease once the initial arguments and structure have been established in draft form.
You will receive a grade for this draft. I will evaluate it based on its completeness and its use of the measures you've already put in place through locating your bibliography and preparing an outline. In the draft, I want to be able to see your outline's structure, and I want to see that you are making use of your bibliography (which will probably include expanding it as you build out your ideas).
Submit this document by adding a child page to your paper proposal, and then either 1) paste the text of your draft into the child page or 2) attach the draft as an RTF document.
This is due Friday, March 26 by 5:00PM.
In the following week, we'll spend some class time in a peer review workshop.
