Seminar Paper
by zach whalen
The seminar paper is the major work you will undertake in completing this seminar. Your goal is provide a serious, critical discussion of a topic you choose, and present it in a professional, scholarly essay. This is a paper you will spend several weeks with, so choose a topic you know you can work on for that long. It should be related to the course material in some way, and I define "related" pretty loosely. You'll make the case for your topic's relatedness in your proposal, which is the first of several stages in working on this paper.
These steps are outlined below, and since each is a separate, graded sub-assignment, you can follow the links to see more about each sub-assignment in detail.
- Proposal (due February 12)
- 75 points
- Your proposal will be a short document defining the topic, scope, and approach for your essay. You'll discuss these in class and upload them to the website so that you can benefit from peer feedback.
- Outline (due March 8)
- 25 points
- Bibliography (due March 8)
- 50 points
- First Draft (due March 19)
- 75 points
- Abstract (due April 9)
- 25 points
- Final Draft (due April 30)
- 100 points
